Construction and manufacturing process
Three-piece can bodies are made from flat sheets cut from coils of tin-plated steel with a protective coating depending on the end use. Decorations on three-piece cans may be printed on the can body or on paper labels that are then glued onto the can, to manufacture printed cans or plain cans.
The three-piece metal cans are manufactured as per the requirements of the customer and the range is wide.
The process
Sheets are cut into precise body blanks by the slitter.
Each blank is rolled into a cylinder and the side seam is welded.
A side-seam stripe protects exposed metal; coating can be applied inside, outside or on both sides according to the product’s end use.
The stripe is cured in an electric oven, then the cylinders are flanged and, when required, necked in.
An end is attached in the double seamer, folding body and end edges together twice to form the seal.
Finished cans are checked and stacked on pallets for storage.
